Technical Info
Thinking about buying a USED car or truck?
The number one reason people sell or trade in their cars is because something is starting to fail, and they want to get rid of it while they can. The most frequent failure item is the transmission. Check any used car out very carefully by test driving with the radio off so that you can listen for grinding or whining noises. Pay special attention for any vibrations or slipping.
Pull out the engine oil & transmission fluid dipsticks. See if there are any signs of rust. Also, look to see if the fluid has a milky look (like a milkshake consistency). The transmission fluid will look like a strawberry milkshake if water has gotten into the transmission.
